Energy Assessor
Location: Remote (With regular contact and visits to their head office located in Newcastle Upon Tyne)
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (Based on experience)

The Role
The organisation are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Energy Assessor to conduct systematic and comprehensive site surveys of all parts of the building, including HVAC systems, fixtures, fittings, and elements.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and expertise in building systems, with a focus on HVAC systems. The surveyor will be responsible for collecting accurate and detailed data to support building assessments, maintenance plans, and energy efficiency initiatives.
This a fully remote, home working role with regular contact and visits to their head office located in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Training can be required for any ABBE qualifications not held by the assessor.
They will also seek for the assessor to become a chartered energy manager with the Energy Institute within an agreed timeline and additional training.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough site surveys of commercial buildings, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all areas, including HVAC systems, fixtures, and elements.
- Inspect, document, and evaluate the condition, performance, and efficiency of building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
- Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to measure and record relevant data, such as temperature, humidity, airflow, and energy consumption.
- Identify and document any deficiencies, malfunctions, or potential areas of improvement related to building systems, including HVAC equipment.
- Prepare detailed reports and analysis based on survey findings, including recommendations for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, or energy efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as engineers, facility managers, and maintenance technicians, to ensure accurate and effective communication of survey results and recommendations.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to building systems and energy efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in conducting site surveys of commercial buildings, with a focus on HVAC systems.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of building systems, including HVAC equipment, fixtures, and elements.
- Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment used for site surveys, such as thermal imaging cameras, airflow meters, and data loggers.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately collect and record data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify deficiencies and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and energy efficiency standards is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to different locations for site surveys.
